MMXII // RESOLUTION I

Written by . Filed under HAND LETTERING + SIGN PAINTERS, PERSONAL. Tagged . 1 Comment.

2011 was a big, exciting year. I was married, traveled to foreign countries: Greece, France, Amsterdam, became a yogi thanks to Joy and Joy, started eating healthier than ever, became dedicated to cardio and weight-lifting thanks to Jes and the right gym (that does flash mobs!), lost weight and toned my body, we bought our first house, started a stamp business and turned twenty-seven. Can you believe there’s actually more I’m not telling you? There is. So here are my resolutions for 2012, starting with number one.

№1: LEARN THE CRAFT OF SIGN PAINTING

LOUISE FILI FOR THE POSTAL SERVICE

I seriously just lost a really long post about stamps. Until I regain composure and can type this up again, here is what I wanted to show you. It’s a Louise Fili stamp for 2012! { I just wrote like 4 paragraphs on this }

Is there a way to undo copying something so as to return to the thing you last copied? I had a feeling I was about to lose it so I copied the entire post’s content, but then I copied something else not even thinking about it. Dumb.

TRUCK LETTERING.

It’s very inconvenient that most of the incredible lettering on vehicles is seen while driving my own vehicle, without the chance to take a photo. I try not to text and drive so taking a picture seems completely ignorant. But I always see the best lettering on old company trucks and 18 wheelers (this can be a poor example most often)—if it looks handpainted or stenciled I have a hard time keeping my eyes on the road. I suppose a lot of driving admirers have this dilemma, as these are some of the best photos I could find.

NEW BOHEMIA SIGNS.

I’ve been diligently researching proper sign-painting techniques, I’d like to take it up as a hobby and/or small business (aka etsy) endeavor. Keep ya eyes peeled for my creations at our wedding! 47 days or something, IDK!?!

And for those of you who, like me, admire the work of the professionals in the biz, you can get your own ready-made sign from New Bohemia Signs, company of the infamous Jeff Canham from this post I did last year.
