When you have a spare few minutes, visit the site NOTRUF DEUTSCHLAND. It’s sort of like the Wilderness Downtown project by Arcade Fire. Make sure you facebook connect. It’s worth it. Then when you’re done, you can come back here to watch my video. But watch your own video FIRST!

Steven sleeps with the TV on, so while we were honeymooning we’d have Greek MTV on and curiously they play the same few songs every ten minutes. This isn’t an exaggeration, while there may be a few songs sprinkled in here and there, they mainly played Lady Gaga - Born This Way, Ke$ha - We R Who We R, Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - On The Floor and Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me. In Greece it was driving me crazy but now I feel like it helps my memory association because there’s a handful of songs I can’t get out of my head, and the ones that play here in America are a sweet reminder of Athens.
The first that’s stuck in my head is by Grecian artist Alexandra Stan: Mr. Saxobeat, it’s No. 1 on the Dance Floor Chart (in Europe or just Greece, I’m not certain) and the video is below. I really liked it while we were there, and now the beat is repeating but I couldn’t remember the words quite right… I kept singing ‘Mr. Boombox’ while in reality it’s ‘Mr. Saxobeat’—so here it is for you guys to hear. I wanted to request it last night while we were at a pub celebrating St. Patrick’s day with friends but I figured the DJ whose only green shirt was the one emblazoned with ‘MEXICO’ probably didn’t have it on his hard drive.

The second stuck in my heart is by Greek band Μέλισσες, (or Melisses for English-translation) called Lonely Heart. I can’t quit shaking my ass to this tune and I love that it has a bit of the Mad Men intro music in it’s melody. Lonely, lonely, lonely hearrrrt.
Another song I really liked wasn’t played nearly enough I can’t find, all I remember was the line “miles and miles”…it’s my mission to find it!
On a rainy Sunday morning we were sipping coffee, watching Days of Thunder and making Xtranormal videos just for fun. We’ve decided to showcase ‘em here and let you guys decide who is the better auteur. Watch them both, then vote!

I just found out about this site dedicated to our texting parents: WHEN PARENTS TEXT. My mom texts me a lot, easily more than she calls. She always signs them “xoxo” and usually throws in a few “hehe” or “teeheehee“‘s for good measure. Here are some texts from my mother:

Which reminds me, that while I shouldn’t call out my own mother and not take one for the team, I mistakenly texted my friend Broc this morning, when I meant to text Steven. I was on my way home from bootcamp and the McDonalds in our ‘hood was a crime scene bordered by police and caution tape. When I got out of the shower it was on the news: murder… yikes! Anyway, I hope it didn’t wake him up at 6:30am this morning!

After literally hundreds of emails back and fourth, the Fredericksburg Trip finally happened last Friday. I had no hand in planning it, I just sat back, relaxed and contributed one sad excuse for a woozie. There were 12 girls, an overwhelming majority of went (or are currently going) to TEXAS STATE! I think 7 of us total are bobbiecats. You’d think with that many girls there’d be catfights and bitchiness galore, but we all got along splendidly and I personally left feeling like I’d gained a few new BFFS. Here’s the lineup:

L-R/ZIGZAG: TAMMY, ALLISON, AMANDA, MANDY, BRITTANY, MANDY, KARI, SONYA, KATHLEEN, JESSICA, KAT, JESSICA/ME
Five of us that came from Houston in the BarbMobile (me, Mandy, Mandy, Jessica and Brittany) experienced a flat tire just 40 minutes outside of the city, and we had at least three hours to go. Luckily Trapper Ted came to our rescue and got us back on the road.

This is a gator with gold teef on the left, and Kat making a face like one of Trapper Ted's coon babbies.
We stayed up way too late on Friday but were up and at ‘em Saturday at 7am for breakfast, then Mandy, Amanda and I took a stroll down Main street to scope out the shops.

Our first winery stop was the Grape Creek Vineyards. This was hands down my favorite place of the day. I bought two of their wines: a Riesling and Muscat Canelli. I actually liked the red wines, too, but wasn’t ready to commit. In the gift shop I got a giant candle that smells JUST.LIKE.LEATHER. and was only $25, and it’s burn time is 155 hours. YESSS.

Did I mention that Brittany aka Beezy the Sleazy got us a surprise party bus? This definitely made the trip a whole lot more fun. Our second stop was Becker Vineyards, where we got a private tour of the boiler room, or whatever they call it in a winery—where our sommalier Alfredo was awfully generous with his sample sizes. I didn’t really like much of the wine here, mostly because a lot of it seemed to be red, and I may have been off taking pictures when Alfredo was pouring the whites, because I only remember a couple glasses that were to my taste. Either way, we got a lot of shots at Becker… by “we” I mean Kat and me, who brought the “big” cameras :)

Our third stop was Suckballs Fredericksburg Winery, which was probably an old hobby lobby. We were split up into groups according to what our preference was, and while one group had a nice lady who treated them kindly, my group had a mean lady who didn’t like us one bit, so clearly, the people in my group purchased nothing from this establishment… see how that works?

Oh, and here is the Wax Poetic Necklace/Charms I got on Sunday// it says "DO"… like "do it!"
OMG, if you haven’t had your fill and want to see ALL the pictures from our trip, friend me on facebook to see what all the other girls captured, or check out my flickr. This is taking too long.
Oh, and on a side note, can I just say that I love whoever searched for “i cheering reraxing”, and I am not quite sure how it brought you here, but I am oh so glad it did. $10 says it was either Steve or Kam.

Oh, here’s why.

the INVISIBLE MOTHER
I’m headed to a baby shower this afternoon for a friend whose baby I am eagerly anticipating meeting. In their honor, here is a mother-and-child related post. Maybe you’ll find it as entertaining as I do, and you’ll click through Retronaut’s link to see the rest—because there are more and they’re good.
‘This was a practice where the mother, often disguised or hiding, often under a spread, holds her baby tightly for the photographer to insure a sharply focused image.’
