Here is a peek under the sheets, if you will – a look into the design direc­tion I chose to update the blog with this time around. I wanted to cre­ate an Americana-style theme based on the col­ors used in World War I era Lib­erty Bond posters. I’ve long loved the his­toric beauty of these posters and would hang ‘em all over our house if I had the wall space. From the Library of Congress:

Dur­ing World War I, the impact of the poster as a means of com­mu­ni­ca­tion was greater than at any other time dur­ing his­tory. The abil­ity of posters to inspire, inform, and per­suade com­bined with vibrant design trends in many of the par­tic­i­pat­ing coun­tries to pro­duce thou­sands of inter­est­ing visual works.

This Lib­erty Bond poster above is what I used to base the color scheme on.

They’ve been a big part of the color schem­ing selec­tion process and are a trea­sure – they’ll look even bet­ter once the site is fin­ished so come often to see the changes.
