LAVATORY ENVY

Brass, Carrara marble, subway tiles (the old-looking ones), warm woods, industrial lighting… Jeff and Jason’s home-away-from-Brooklyn was featured on DesignSponge yesterday, and I must say—these dudes did their bathroom right. I am quite envious. Reminds me of one of my favorite places, not just for the libations but for their authentically industrial design: Schiller’s Liquor Bar. For comparison’s sake, here is Jeff & Jason’s bathroom, more photos plus Schiller’s after the jump.

And Schiller’s (photos from our last trip to the city):

Sorry for the iPhone images at first. Above is the communal wash area, a gateway to the men’s and women’s toilets.

Hexagon tiles, brass and iron, porcelain; FML… industrial makes my heart pound.

Ugh. F’ing gorgeous doors. And hand-painted lettering.

The plumbing and pipe work makes me feel like an early 20th century factory employee. I’d better get my digital-camera-phone-from-the-future out of the bathroom and get back to my sewing machine before I lose my lunch. Now some from the real camera:

I love the exposed pipes and the bathroom doors at Schiller’s!

I like the slightly thicker black (whatever it’s called) between the wall tiles in the first two.

You always have the best taste!
